Dr. Richard S. Edley joined PerformCare/CBHNP in 1999 as President and Chief Executive Officer and brings to the organization over 18 years of experience in the behavioral health care field. In this role, Dr. Edley oversees all aspects of operations and finance and leads business and program development activities. His leadership style, endless energy, and experience makes him the driving force behind the Company's tremendous growth and success, as well as its mission in serving the community and stakeholders.
Before joining PerformCare/CBHNP, Dr. Edley served in senior management roles with leading corporations in clinical, business, and network operations capacities. He served as Executive Vice President and COO at Managed Networks of America, a health care company providing management services and risk network development, where he was responsible for all operational functions nationwide. Prior to this, he served as Vice President at OPTIONS Mental Health, and was responsible for the direction, management, and supervision of clinical and network operations. His duties also included complete oversight and direction of the CHAMPUS/Tricare military program operations. Earlier in his career as a clinical psychologist for American Biodyne, Dr. Edley was promoted to regional director of clinical operations within two years and oversaw the Eastern/Northern Region that consisted of seven states. Dr. Edley was awarded the Distinguished Practitioner of the Year National Annual Award in 1989 while serving at Biodyne.
Dr. Edley earned his master's and doctoral degrees from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and is a licensed psychologist with professional membership in the American Psychological Association. He has written many articles on managed care and behavioral health care business and has given numerous presentations and workshops nationwide on topics that include health care reform, managed care readiness, risk models, managed care underwriting, and the implementation of capitation contracts.
